Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka (IPM) was founded in 1959 by a small group of professionals with the objective of developing and promoting the profession of personnel management. The Institute was subsequently incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1976, and its name was amended by Act No. 31 of 2018 as the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM).

The National HR Conference 2023 Media Briefing & recognizing the Strategic Partners was held on 27th April 2023 at HR House, CIPM – Colombo 05. 

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Sri Lanka is proud to announce the National HR Conference 2023 conducted under the theme “Navigating Dire Straits”. The event will be held on the 21st and 22nd of June 2023 at the Monarch Imperial, Sri Jayewardenepura. 

After a hiatus of three years due to the pandemic, the CIPM National HR Conference returns, promising to be an event of unparalleled insights and experiences for HR professionals, business leaders, and other stakeholders. 

The National HR Conference 2023 will be graced by Mr Rolf Blaser, the Managing Director/ CEO of A. Baur & Co. (Pvt) Ltd, delivering the Keynote Speech. 

The event is partnered by PickMe (Digital Mobility Solutions Lanka (Pvt) Ltd.), Nippon Paint Lanka Pvt Ltd, hSenid Business Solutions, and IDM Campus, and co-sponsored by HNB PLC and Dole Lanka (Pvt) Ltd.

MoU with SHMA

CIPM, the nation’s leader in Human Resource Management, signed an MOU with Swiss Hospitality Management Academy Pvt Ltd (SHMA) on 30th March 2023 at CIPM Member’s lounge. The Managing Director/CEO of Baurs and SHMA Director, Mr. Rolf Blaser; Director of Finance and Compliance, Ms. Pavithra Samarasinghe; Dean of Academy SHMA Ms. Daniela Munasinghe, and Manager, Ms. Sureeka Fernando, represented Baurs at the Ceremony.

CIPM President Mr. Ken Vijayakumar, CIPM Vice President Mr. Priyantha Ranasighe, Honorary Treasurer of CIPM Col. Saman Jayavickrama, Council Members of CIPM, CEO Mr. U.A.C Obeysekere, Director of Professional and Academics Affairs Mr. G.Weerathunga, Director Operations Ms. Himali Dassanayake, and CIPM Staff represented the CIPM at the Ceremony.  With the signing of the MOU, CIPM will conduct a unique HRM program tailormade to the requirements of the Hotel industry, and CIPM and SHMA will concurrently conduct a Diploma in Hospitality Management.

The meeting was held among CIPM and the Ministry of Labour to conduct a National Survey on Labour Demand. At this meeting, two national-level research project reports conducted by CIPM on ‘Female Migrant Domestic Workers: Challenges and Prospects in Sri Lankan Perspective’ and ‘Attracting Sri Lankan Youth to Technical and Vocational Education: The Way Forward’ were handed over to the Hon. Labour Minister Manusha Nanayakkara by CIPM President Mr. Ken Vijayakumar and Chairperson of the Research Committee Prof. Prasadini Gamage.
