Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka (IPM) was founded in 1959 by a small group of professionals with the objective of developing and promoting the profession of personnel management. The Institute was subsequently incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1976, and its name was amended by Act No. 31 of 2018 as the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM). CIPM SL is a professional body and is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resource Management and World Federation of People Management Associations. The CIPM SL is the pioneering and most recognized professional body in the Island when it comes to trend-setting in the HRM profession.

Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Sri Lanka – the Nation’s leader in human resource management in its endeavor to recognize and encourage high performing students awarded a dual merit scholarship in human resource management to Sithmi Edirisinghe of Maliyadeva Girl’s College, Kurunegala the Island 2nd rank in the GCE Advanced Level 2018 Arts Stream.

Under this scholarship award, Sithmi will be offered the privilege to follow CIPM’s popular entry-level HR programme “The Certificate Course in Human Resource Management” (CCHRM) as her first step into her career in HRM. Upon successful completion of the CIPM CCHRM, Sithmi will have the opportunity to follow the more advanced CIPM Diploma in Human Resource Management.

“CIPM Sri Lanka is a well-recognized institute in human resource management, and I am very grateful to have been given this opportunity to study here. I believe that it is important for my future. It will also help improve my knowledge” said Sithmi expressing her views on receiving the dual scholarship.

Sithmni, who hails from Kurunegala is the only child in her family and is enthusiastically looking forward to starting the course at CIPM Kurunegala Regional Center.

CIPM’s strategy of decentralizing is a boon to students living outside of Colombo making learning more accessible and inclusive. In addition to the head office in Colombo, CIPM has regional centers located in Gampaha, Kurunegala, Galle and Kandy, the provincial capitals of the country .

IPM Sri Lanka, the Nation’s leader in human resource management is in the forefront of the country’s quest to inspire bright young minds to consider and choose a career in human resource management which is now considered one of the most fulfilling and fastest growing professions in the world.

CIPM Sri Lanka President Mr. Dhammika Fernando together with a team of HR professionals represented IPM Sri Lanka at the 71st Annual Conference of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), UK recently. Aptly themed ‘Leading the People Profession’, the Conference was held at the Manchester Central Convention Complex, UK on 7-8 November 2018.

The CIPD HR Conference is considered as one of the largest HR conferences in the world. The team accompanying Mr. Dhammika Fernando included, Mr. Ajith Bopitiya- Hony. Treasurer and Chairman –National HR Conference (NHRC) 2019, Mr. Namal Jayaweera- Council Member IPM Sri Lanka and Mrs. Himali Dassanayake- Senior Manager- Member Services and Corporate Affairs. It has been a customary practice for CIPD, UK to invite the IPM Sri Lanka President and other IPM delegates to the conference on an annual basis.
