The Great HR Quiz 2023, organized by CIPM Sri Lanka, ended on a high note, with Siam City Cement Lanka Ltd taking the Overall CIPM Great HR Quiz 2023 Champion Trophy. IFS R&D International (Pvt) Ltd grabbed the 1st Runner-up Trophy, while Ansell Lanka (Pvt) Ltd won the 2nd Runner-up Trophy.
The highly anticipated event for the HR community was held on November 29th at the Galadari Hotel, Colombo.
A total of 65 teams from both public and private sector companies enthusiastically took part in the event. The event was a lively and interactive quiz, featuring a special digital response device on each team’s table.
We were honored to have Mr. Nalin Karunaratne, Director/CEO of Ceylon Biscuits Ltd, as our Chief Guest, and Mr. Anura Siriwardena, Executive Director of Voice of Asia Network (Pvt) Ltd, as our Guest of Honour. We were also pleased to have Mr. Ken Vijayakumar, President of CIPM, along with the office bearers, executive council members, past presidents, and the senior management and staff of CIPM in attendance.
The panel of judges for the event included renowned Senior Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri, Mr. Dhammika Fernando, and Prof. A. Sarveswaran. Mr. C. Hewapattini served as the Quiz Master. An invigorating seminar on the above topic took place at the OPA Auditorium on the evening of 28th September 2022. The speaker was Mr. Priyantha Ranasinghe – Vice President CIPM SL & Director Human Resources of Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka who explained key factors which have adversely impacted the Sri Lankan economy resulting in immense suffering of the people. Mr. Priyantha Ranasinghe succinctly described the imbalanced economy and the manner in which the human resource function can contribute to steady the various areas such as productivity, production, motivation, skills & competency development, etc. which can enhance the National economy to a greater level.
The panel discussion which followed after the keynote address featured Mr. Ken Vijayakumar – President CIPM SL & Deputy General Manager – Human Resources, Administration, Purchasing, and Sustainability at A. Baur & Company (Pvt.) LTD, Mr. Dhammika Fernando – Past President CIPM SL & Executive General Manager of Tropical Findings (Pvt) Ltd, as well as Mr. Priyantha Ranasinghe – Vice President CIPM SL.
A highly appreciative audience posed some important questions which resulted in clear explanations and answers by the panelists followed by interactive discussions with the audience.
The OPA President Mr. Dulitha Perera contributed strongly to the discussions together with the Vice President – Eng. Saman Kandanearachchi and the General Secretary OPA – Mr. Upali Jayawardena proposed the vote of thanks. CIPM council members and senior staff as well as OPA committee members were present at the deliberations which took place at the seminar.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Sri Lanka – the Nation’s leader in Human Resource Management appointed Sri Lanka Cricket Captain ODI’s & T20’s, Dasun Shanaka as its Brand Ambassador to take CIPM’s value proposition to the masses.
The agreement was signed at the media conference held at CIPM Sri Lanka Premises on 24th September 2022. The President, Mr. Ken Vijayakumar, Executive Council Members, Past Presidents, and Managerial Staff of CIPM SL participated in the event along with Dasun Shanaka in the presence of media and invitees.
In addition, CIPM and Dasun Shanaka will work together to inculcate a resilient leadership culture amongst the HR fraternity and students, motivate talent at a national level, and to foster rejuvenation and resilience amongst all citizens in taking Sri Lanka forward towards economic recovery and stability.

Obeyesekere – CEO of CIPM, Tharindu Gunathilake Member of CIPM Research Committee & Chartered Member and Indika Wijayasriwardana – Head of Shared Services CIPM participated in this event which was held at the Department of Agrarian Development on 21st September 2022.
