Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka (IPM) was founded in 1959 by a small group of professionals with the objective of developing and promoting the profession of personnel management. The Institute was subsequently incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1976, and its name was amended by Act No. 31 of 2018 as the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM).

    The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) and the Project Management Institute Colombo Chapter (PMICC) Sri Lanka signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 14th August of 2023 at the Members Lounge of CIPM. This collaboration will enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between CIPM and PMICC to promote and develop Human Resource Management and Project Management practices at both national and international levels benefiting its members of both institutions. 

    Mr. Ken Vijayakumar, President, CIPM Sri Lanka Ms. Wasanthi Vithanage Hony Asst. Secretary CIPM Sri Lanka , Mr Kasun Nahllage, Council Member, CIPM Sri Lanka, Mr. UAC Obeyesekere, Chief Executive Officer, CIPM Sri Lanka , Mr. G Weerathunga, Director of Professional and Academic Affairs, CIPM Sri Lanka , All Heads of Departments (HODs) of CIPM Sri Lanka and Staff of CIPM Sri Lanka represented CIPM.

    From the Project Management Institute Colombo Chapter Eng. Saman Kandanearachchi PMP, President PMI Colombo, Sri Lanka , Ms. Anoja Basnayake PMP, Vice President, Membership, PMI Colombo Sri Lanka and Mr. Aruna Kooragamage PMP, Past President, PMI Colombo Sri Lanka graced the occasion.

    CIPM Sri Lanka – the Nation’s Leader in human resource management held its annual Graduation Ceremony at the BMICH, Colombo on Tuesday 06th December 2022 where over 800+ graduates from the CIPM received their well-deserved honors. The graduands represented students who followed the CIPM’s Chartered Qualification in Human Resource Management (CQHRM),  Professional Qualification in Human Resource Management (PQHRM), Diploma in Training & Human Resource Development (DTHRD), Diploma in Industrial Relations and Employment Law (DIREL), Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH), National Diploma in Training & Human Resource Development (NDTHRD), and BSc & MSc in HRM & Development from the University of Salford, Manchester, UK. 

    CIPM President – Mr. Ken Vijayakumar, Chief Guest Dr. Harsha Alles – Chairman of the Gateway Group of Organisations, Guest of Honour Mr. Ramesh Schaffter – Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer at Janashakthi Group joined Members of the CIPM Executive Council, CEO, CIPM faculty members, and staff at the ceremony which was held under the timely theme of “Giving your future unbeatable odds”

    CIPM Conducted a Special Executive Development Programme(EDP) for the Executive Management, Regional Managers and Chief Managers of the People’s Bank.

    The inauguration ceremony was held on 02nd November at the Auditorium of CIPM, Colombo 05 and it was graced by the presence of People’s Bank Chairman Mr. Sujeewa Rajapakse, Chief Executive Officer/General Manager of People’s Bank Mr. Ranjith Kodituwakku, Acting. Deputy General Manager (Human Resources) of People’s Bank Mr. K.A Nihal, Executive Council Member of CIPM Dr. Neil Bogahalande, Chief Executive Officer of CIPM Mr. U.A.C Obeyesekere, Director of Professional & Academic Affairs of CIPM Mr. G. Weerathunge.

    The Purpose of this EDP is to improve managerial behaviour and performance of the target group executives of People’s Bank by cultivating their abilities and qualities through the acquisition and application of advanced knowledge insights and skills.
